Whats up peeps, here is yet another apology for not posting. So how about this time we take it slow and not make any big promise. In case you have been wondering what I've been up to, besides being a Daddy, I have decided to start making music! I recently decided to take a stab putting a mix with samples supplied from the WeMixSeries Forum, which they liked very much that they decided to promo it on one of their sublabels Yespring House! It is a groove driven electro track with a grimey bassline and punchy drums. Go ahead and take a listen below and if you like it enough help yourself to it via the link under the picture. Once again I apologize for slacking and not updating the Nu Kidz blog, the good news though is I'm getting much more playtime around the Monterrey area, so I've worked up a nice selection of tracks that will be sharing with you kidz here. Now for the tracks.. you may well all be aware of Empire of the Sun, but these two remixes really work for me and give it a more danceable approach sound that I've come to enjoy, Danger and Shazam are Nu Kidz favorites, so there's really not much to say but take a listen and see for yourself!

Since this is a long week for most kidz in Mexico and the US, here's a rare enjoyable 80's Italo Disco track called "Extra Terrestrial (E.T.)" by Canadian artist Donna Rhodes, it's a jumpy synth happy song with that futuristic feel of the past, also love the way she prounounces extra-terrestrial in the chorus, great for roadtrips!

And as a bouns track here's the latest Justice remix of "Get On Your Boots" from U2. I'm actually not a post-Achtung Baby U2 fan but Justice kinda completely destroyed the track and just kept Bono's vocals in the back along with their signature heavy basslines, so the remix is not bad at all.. I just wouldn't play it on the dancefloor!

Wow check this out kidz, HardPop made it as new entry in DJmag's Top 100 Clubs for 2009. Coming in at number 32, HadrPop is really something to brag about. Juarez (a.k.a. Warez) is not only my hometown but one of the best electronic music scenes in the world, having one of the best clubs in the world not only proves what I'm saying it amplifies it and keeps Juarez on the map with some good news.. a well deserved congratulations to all the HardPop team, thanks for all the great times and more to come!

First off is what in my opinion a brilliant producer, Zodiac Cartel.
This jam is set to be released on April 20th on U&A Recordings. This tune to me is a housey fidget sound. Zodi dont play that!

MSTRKRFT (pronunciado “master-kraft”) es una agrupación de música electrónica originaria de Canadá conformada por Jesse F. Keeler (a.k.a. JFK) y Alex Puodziukas (a.k.a. ALP). Ambos se conocieron colaborando en el álbum “You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine” de la reconocida y extinta banda llamada “Death from Above 1979”, en ese entonces JFK participando como músico integrante de la banda y ALP participando como productor del álbum. The last post of last year was during Border Noise 3, which was an insane weekend, fun times as always, cant wait for this year. Amongst the aritsts that came to rock J-town Marine Parade label boss Adam Freeland. On our drive into the city of murder from the El Paso airport I mentioned to him how much I wanted a pair of the Marine Parade Etnies that came out some years back. Adam being the cool guy that he is sent me over a pair which I just got last week. These are some really snug tennis I must say! Along with footwear, which came wrapped in a Evil Nine "They Live!" poster, was copy of what seems to be Adam Freeland's new promo cd titled "Two Hours to Jupiter". Im waiting for Adam's ok, to post, hopefully I get the green light. However if you can't wait it is available at Marine Parade with the purchase of 10 pounds or more.

Since we are on the subject of footwear, this can lead into the remix by Heavyfeet of Elite Force's "Here Come the Flow". Now this song just got released on the 22nd of December on Ef's label Used and Abused, but I had gotten the sampler a few months back, but since I was in hiatus, Im a bit late on sharing it with ya. My good TJ/SD friends just hit my email with a couple of new remixes to start of this new year 2009, so off we go starting a great new year..

First off, we have Harvard Bass remix of "DJ Orgasmic & Teki Latex - Sixpack Anthem" out on Institubes record label. Harvard Bass is regular post material here at Nu Kidz and this time he's steppin' up with his own work, getting much well deserved attention from non-other than Institubes, what more can I say it's an excellent way to start of 2009!

Imagination is fading....

I could start this post by apologizing for not my last of posting, but.... nah!
So I'll just get right to it, however there is one thing I want to get off my chest. Why is it that when ONE person needs to get in line for a service, the whole family has to wait along with them? Do they not realize that this makes the line seem longer therefore frustrating the other people waiting? Ok thank you for listening.

First up is producer from the good 'ol U S of A, by the name of The Yank. I uncovered this guy on My Name is Pelski, so props to that blog for the insight. This tune has a fidget bassline that gets my rump shaking when I hear it. I think there is a sample of some Hendrix at the beginning of the tune.

Next is a tune that has been out for awhile now, but being a remix by one of my favorite producers, trust that I'll be banging this one out til next year! This dirty remix comes from Lee Mortimer, original tune by Mundyke released on Audio Punk. This song has a big wearhouse feel for me. If you wanna play somethin dark and serious consider this tune. Then again you can never go wrong by playing a Mortimer tune original or remix, in my opinion.

First off a couple of trax by golden bug, whose In Flagranti remix of looklooklook made me happy camper a couple of months ago, I got a chance to check out their entire cd Hot Robot and has been on rotation on my player ever sinceI got my sweaty paws on it.

Ok, first off I'm sorry for being so absent! It's not that I've been slacking, just been out having a blast. Border Noise festival was completely nuts and kinda ruined my serotonin routine of bloggin', also I just recently moved into a new apartment and had no internet access whatsoever, so it's been a ride but finally I'm back on track!

On latest news, this last Friday we had the Nu Kidz monthly edition party at TOPAZdeluxe and again the crowd was fuckin' amazing, thanks to Topaz, Da Cheeks, Beski and all the cool kidz wearing sunglasses at night!

When I first began to dig into blogs, I came across Miami Horror. The first work I heard from the Aussies was a remix of Faker's "This Heart Attack". Which caused me to become a newfound fan of Faker too. Recently as I stayed up searching my favorite blogs I came across a new tune by the gentlemen from Melbourne. MH has a EP that will drop on November 15th titled "Bravado", availabe on Beatpot/iTunes. Serious and Silly with Tepr

So my long fun weekend included Yelle and Tepr this past Saturday at Noise and I had a chance to sit down and talk to Tepr about a couple of serious and silly questions. The party needless to say was a big succes, jumpin' kidz all around was more than proof. A big shout out to all the Nrmal kidz, who are definitively representing the nu scene in Monterrey!

Here is what Tepr had to say..

1. Who is Tepr? And what does Tepr mean?
Tepr doesn’t mean anything for real, it just at first I was in a band, like an abstractive band inspired/influenced by DJ Shadow and stuff like that. And we were two and the band’s name was Abstract Kill A Gram, and I wanted to do my own stuff, my solo stuff and more club. And I was like writing letters to see what letters matches the most and T, E, P, R, came and Tepr was the best thing I found, and it was simple like four words so Tepr is just me and my real name is Tanguy. I have release 3 albums on a small French label called Idwet, and from 2003 to 2008 I have released three albums and I only do remixes and producing for all the people like Yelle.

2. How’s the Mexico tour gone so far?
The Mexican tour is like amazing, we had a little sound problem yesterday in Mexico city but people are cool, and everyone is like waiting for us and we are really excited and really surprised about it, to see we made a couple of songs two years ago in a small room in France and two years later we are playing in front of two thousand people in Mexico city, it’s incredible.

3. Now for the music, what are you music influences?
I guess in general terms is hip-hop to me, I was a huge fan and Wu Tang Clan and also all the stuff from New York, and also when I was like twelve Nirvana came with Nevermind and it was a blast like a huge big sound with guitar, screaming and Kurt Cobain so charismatic, so I was like OK I like rock band and hip-hop beats, and the thing that came to me was everything in music is a mix between the rock and the hip-hop. So Wu Tang Clan and Nirvana were the first big influences, then Beastie Boys came and it was also huge, and I decided into music because of Daft Punk and DJ Shadow and it was easier to produce music alone with computers.

4. Describe Tepr’s sound?
My sound I guess I want it fun, but I also want it melodic, I like fat melodies, but I like bouncy beats a mix between all that.

5. What software/hardware does Tepr use to produce tracks?
At first I was only using computer but I’m tired of synthesizers, now I use real keyboards like Minimoog and Juno and old stuff I really like it. Use Ableton and Reason like most of people too. I like to make mistakes while I records songs, you know why I play music to get excited.

6. Any new remixes on the works?
I just did the new remix for Yelle called “Ce Jeu” cause I’am like the official remixer for Yelle’s singles, and I just did three remixes for Santogold and now I want to stop cause I want to work on my next album. And I'm also working with lead singer from Blonde Do Role called Marina on the next album, I’m producing two tracks.

7. Any thoughts on Carla Bruni?
[Laughter] She’s the President’s wife, I used to not like her first album, I didn’t like the second album and I guess I will not like her third album, and she used to be beautiful but not beautiful now.

8. And finally, does Tepr know how to dance Tecktonik?
[Laughter] No, I don’t know how to dance Tecktonik, in fact the Tecktonik story is funny cause I did a remix for Yelle and the guy who worked with us in the label just said: “hey there’s some cool dancers, new stuff in France we have to do video with those guys and they like Yelle and they want to do something with Yelle, can we do something with your remix, Yelle and the dancers” We said yes, we don’t have money to do big video clip, and they said we don’t need a lot of money to have them dance on the track and it was the first Tecktonik video clip so were completely surprised.

I want to take a moment and thank everyone who attended the 2nd Nu Kidz blog party last Friday @ Topaz, the turn out was amazing.. 400 kidz dancing to great tunes all night. Good news is we are getting ready for the next and the 3rd Nu Kidz party is in the works for Saturday, October 25 @ Aura, line up will soon be announced but trust me it will blow your tops off once again, stayed tunned more details.

I think, I got lost on the online freeway and never saw the 80kidz exit sign, did you? From Japan comes these kidz and their filtered distortion sound just got my attention immediately. I really don't know much about them, but I must say it reminds me of Eduardo Banger in a sense. Shout out to the Lion who gave me the heads up and hooked me with this great track, thanks!

Bloc Party-Mercury(CSS Remix)

With the CSS show coming up next week in Monterrey, I wanted to share the remix they did for Bloc Party's first single off their third album "Intimacy". Which is currently on digital release on their website. Alot of people feel that the album has been rushed and are bothered by some of the computerized tracks. In my opinion I enjoy addition of electronic elements to the album, however I miss Matt Tong's excellent drum techniques. To get an idea of what the album sounds like, check out some of these other tracks from the album. The album will have a hardcopy release on October 27th.

We all know that Austin is one of the most active cities in the US rock culture, and that it hosts 2 big "band" festivals; ACL & SXSW.
I think we're all familiar with the ACL Music Festival; a 3-day event of concerts in the city´s "borders".
Far different from the SXSW, the ACL presents from mid-pop to mainstream artists. This year´s lineup includes bands like Beck, Manu Chao, David Byrne, The Mars Volta, Gnarls Barkley, N.E.R.D, Iron & Wine, Hot Chip, Vampire Weekend, the legendary Roky Erickson, CSS, Antibalas, etc.

What may not be equally known here is the fact that there's a chance for 1 "totally indie" band. This band is chosen from a 4-Round contest where every musician is wellcome to join and compete. The contest mixes fan support and expert musician judges to decide who makes it to the party.
The contest has filtered 20 bands out of hundreds of competitors around the world...and there's one mexican leading the battle; 60 TIGRES.

This Monterrey-based band is a funky-dance-punk mixture of sounds that's been growing big lately. They played in last year's SXSW and now with a full album and an energetic live show, they promise to deliver a "psychedelic Tito Puente with a mohwak" to Austin's big stages...and they're doing that through online fan-voting.

The name Poliphilo is Greek for "lover of Polia". But Polia, in turn, translates as "Many Things". In recent years technology for digital music artist has insanely boomed into an infinity of variants, it's just applying the time and the creativity can flow anywhere you can take your fingers and imagination to. It's that simple, some may think that music production/creation is much easier nowadays and that is no understatement but we are also being exposed at a much younger age to basic knowledge of time and sound, so why is it so hard to believe that a 15 year old can create a masterpiece? All this is now reality and those who dare say that typing or tapping buttons is not real music or an instrument are just plain ignorant.. Welcome to the Present Future!

Kidz Want Aurora Mixer!

Usually we post music and videos on here, this new post feels more fashion orientated though. It's a gadget that I've been personally waiting for.. the Aurora Mixer. What is the Aurora? Well it's a USB powered multichannel mixer in a typical dj form factor, with two linear channel faders, a single a/b crossfader and eight backlight knobs that allow you to control unlike most midi controllers enhancing performance with controllable ambient lighting. I guess if your like me and are using the M-Audio X-Session Pro midi-controller/mixer with Ableton Live for your DJ sets, the Aurora is amazingly more fun and fashionable to have.

Of course not everything is quite fashionable, example are these Ed Banger Records headphones (the "Ed Phones").. are you seriously milking the brand this way?
Anyways, I just wanted to share my feelings on some items.

Daft Punk Nu Album

Even though this is not the most recent news I couldn't avoid the excitement to post it, an In The Mix exclusive interview with Busy P gets info of a new upcoming Daft Punk album in the works, as it says.. imagine the possibilities!

"Yes, you read that headline correct! After annihilating Australian audiences late last year on the NeverEverLand tour, everybody’s favourite French robots are finally settling down to record more music. ITM got the scoop from someone who would know – their manager for the past 12 years Busy P! Otherwise known as Pedro Winter – the owner of the notorious Ed Banger Records – he was chatting to inthemix about his label’s brand new compilation Ed Rec Vol III when he dropped the bomb on Daft Punk’s studio plans.

“The boys are in a studio in Paris at the moment,” he revealed to ITM. “And I can’t wait to listen to their new stuff! The good thing is that they are making music at the moment.” While those creative juices are flowing again, it’s not known at this stage when the new album might see the light of day. “They are slow, you know,” Busy P laughed when asked. “They are taking their time, and they have a right.”

Busy P also revealed that he recently decided to step down from the massive task of managing Daft Punk in order to allow him to focus all his energies on the Ed Banger record label. “I’ve stopped working with them really recently, because I want to focus and concentrate on Ed Banger and my artists, and my own career as Busy P.” But after managing Daft Punk for 12 years, it’s a safe bet that the relationship will continue to be a tight one.

So what sort of sound will we be hearing from Daft Punk? Their last studio release was 2005’s Human After All, for which the duo received something of a critical flogging. It led many to declare them as ‘done and dusted’, but before long they smashed back with their world-beating live show, debuted at Coachella in 2006. Who knows: maybe we’ll be treated to something as massive and influential as their debut Homework and its flawless follow-up Discovery? The possibilities are endless."

Ok, finally back from the dead!

My mixtape, the summer and a short vacation took me away from the bloggin' scene. Anyways.. I think its safe to say Nu Kidz is back on track!
